So your little angel has suddenly become clingy, needy, moody and just miserable. You don’t know what is wrong with this child and feel like pulling out your hair. You wonder if your baby is sick and if you should go to the doctor. Baby does feel a bit hot. You don’t know if it’s a fever or from all the crying.

Teething can be a huge trial for many babies. Irritability, sore gums and crankiness can play a huge part when a baby is teething. They feel pain when the tooth cuts through the gums. It can itch or feel like a knife cutting their gums. Babies don’t understand this pain that they are having and think the end of them is near.

Teething symptoms can include the following:

– Bright orange stool

– Soft stool

– Fingers constantly in the mouth

– Clingy

– Moody

– Plain Difficult

– Fever

So your baby is teething. What do you do? How to you help baby to make the teething process a little easier? Below are some of the teething remedies that I have come to learn about in raising my little ones. While some of them will work on some babies, not all of them will work on all babies. Each baby is a unique individual with unique bodily functions.

Teething Remedies:

– Over the counter pain medication: Rub paedriatic OTC onto the gums.  This is said to numb the gums a little.

– Orajel: can be rubbed onto the gums and is obtainable at any drug store. It never worked for my baby, but some mothers swear by it.

– Teethers: There are different teethers on the market that can help ease baby’s pain. Yes, believe it or not. The rough texture of the teether and the fact that they can chew on it really helps the teething baby to get some form of relief.  I found Nuby working best for my baby, but there are lots of different teethers out there.  My baby also liked the ones that are filled with water and come from a Dollar store. Try different ones and see which one works.

– Teething Powder: Teething powder also has it’s uses. It can be put onto the tongue and helps to stop the terrible itching baby has when the teeth appears.

– Teaspoon: Chewing on a plastic baby teaspoon also sometimes helps. My baby found this comforting.

For every baby, this will be trial and error. Every one will experience teething differently and the teething remedy will be different. Experiment, try out different things until you find one that works.
